"Endless Imagination - Boundless Creativity" is an immersive art exhibit that celebrates the vast diversity of artistic expression. This exhibition showcases a wide range of styles, subjects, and mediums, highlighting the limitless potential of human creativity. From intricate realism to bold abstraction, each piece invites viewers to explore different perspectives and interpretations of the world around us.

Visitors will be immersed in the dynamic beauty of nature, experiencing its evolution as both artist and subject.

A percentage of each artwork sold will be donated to the local nonprofit SuFu Creative. We appreciate all that they do for Sioux Falls & the local community (artist community, and community outreach). We are pleased to help support their mission, and hope you’ll consider purchasing artwork from the exhibit, a portion of the proceeds is donated to help fund SuFu Creative’s mission!

Sam Bloom, Ailin Montgomery, and Victor Aislinn share paintings, photographs, and sculptures ignited by the panic, desire, relief, and the destruction that fire creates.

It’s a call to all sensations of heat - the spark of want in your chest, the quick singe from lighting a match, the comfort of a candlelit night.

The warmth keeps us strong, but the cleansing is ruthless. What can you save from the flames, and how? Can you salvage what gets left behind?

Step a little closer and feel every flicker, every fever.

Rare Jefferson Peace Medal Exhibit at Mead Museum

An original 220-year old Jefferson Peace Medal on loan to the Mead Museum is on display as part of the Journeying Forward: Connecting Cultures exhibit. The 4-inch Jefferson Peace Medal is extremely rare and a historically significant artifact from the early 19th century.
The peace medals were commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson as part of diplomatic efforts with Native American tribes, serving as symbols of goodwill and alliance between the U.S. government and Indigenous leaders. The Lewis & Clark Expedition handed out 89 of them to leaders of Native Nations on their journey between 1804-1806. This medal is one of less than 5 on display in the world!
In addition to the peace medal, the Journeying Forward exhibit also had an upgrade in its history of the Ihanktonwan and Oceti Sakowin Nations, an important narrative to Yankton regional history.
The Mead Museum is located at 82 Mickelson Dr in Yankton SD. The Museum is open weekdays 10AM to 5PM and on Saturdays/Sundays from 1PM to 5PM.

Get ready for a splash of creativity! Whether you're heading to the lake or the beach, make your own personalized tie-dye beach towel at the library. We’ll provide the tie-dye supplies and have a limited number of white towels available on a first-come, first-served basis. You’re also welcome to bring your own towel (must be light colored) to customize. This event is open to all ages but geared towards K-5th graders. Caregivers must attend with their children. Come swirl, dye, and create a one-of-a-kind towel to show off in the sun!

Lego fun for teens! We have a variety of Legos, bins with Legos for free building, and Lego sets with instructions. Create architectural masterpieces or your own unique designs. You get to choose.

Thunderdomesticity: Witness Me is a national juried exhibition designed to honor the strength of women (including but not limited to: cis women, trans women, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender fluid people). During a time when it feels like the world is ending, it is vital to see and respect people of marginalized genders. 52 fantastic artists from the United States will display their thought-provoking artwork that is feminist, dystopian, and everything in between! Klaire Lockheart, who hosts the Femininity in the Post-Apocalypse podcast, was honored to serve as juror. She was pleased to select subversive fiber art, expressive paintings, complex collages, dramatic photography, and intriguing mixed media work.

The opening reception for Thunderdomesticity: Witness Me is Final Friday, May 30th at No. 7 Center Gallery, 7 Center Street, Vermillion, South Dakota from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This unconventional art show will be displayed outdoors. To make this outdoor exhibition possible, Aaron C Packard from the Packard Group created professional prints of all the selected artwork. Next, Lockheart used a wheat-paste technique to glue all the wonderful prints to the exterior north wall at No. 7 Center Gallery, facing Vermillion’s City Hall. This wheat-paste installation will be publicly accessible May 30th through July 25th, 2025, and it will change over time. Wheat-pasting is a temporary installation technique, which means these prints will degrade due to the harsh and unpredictable weather in South Dakota. Finally, the prints will be destroyed in the removal process after the show ends.
